Our Orchard

"Living with fear stops us from taking risks, and if you don't go out on the branch, you're never going to get the best fruit."

– Sarah Parish

About Our Orchard

Living in a world of express lanes, computer screens, googling for answers, looking down at phone instead up and at each other, it’s easy to lose connection to each other and to the beautiful, natural living world around us. We sure did.

When we moved from the city to Grateful Lane, we quickly learned we had A LOT to learn about the innate intelligence, balance and ways of nature. Along with a home we fell in love with, came a vineyard, fruit orchard and avocado groves. What a far cry from the urbanization of the city life we’ve grown up in. The beautiful earthly vegetation surrounding us creates a myriad of seasonal fruit, grapes for wine, avocados for guacamole and shelter and comfort for the birds, squirrels, rabbits and bees. The seasons change, the trees go dormant, lose their leaves and rest. And then with surprising vigor, spring forth, renewed with a new force of life. Each year the growth cycles change. Each day is a NEW day filled with unexpected surprises.

The orchards here at Grateful Lane provides much more than just food, they are our teachers helping us develop deeper patience, understanding, respect and awe about the ways, timing, innate intelligence, beauty and balance of nature in all of us. We just have to stop, tune in and listen.

Grateful Lane is now a proud grower for Calavo Avocados. We are happy and grateful to be part of the Calavo avocado grower family.

"In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous"
